According to the Times of India, India will build the world's largest solar power plant in Ladakh, known for its pristine beauty. Add another feature to it.
It is understood that about 200 kilometers south of Cargill, another large project will unite to illuminate the plains, saving glaciers by saving 12,750 tons of carbon emissions per year and eliminating dependence on diesel generator sets.
SECI (India Solar) is responsible for the J&K project being promoted by the Ministry of Renewable Energy. Its size matches its position in Ladakh's 5,000 MW (MW) and 2,500 MW in Calgary and will be completed in 2023. The investment amount is Rs. 45,000.
The SECI Supervisor (Power Systems) stated, “We have solved the problems encountered in the previous tenders and have taken into account the challenging geographical location.”
These projects are expected to stimulate the development of remote border areas and support local residents by cutting solar panel cleaning and transformer maintenance. Electricity Minister RK Singh said in August last year that Ladakh may have 25,000 megawatts of electric solar power.
