Lebanon has ambitious plans for two renewable power tenders, but as the acquisition process drags on and Lebanese institutions lack experience in designing such plans, Europe will provide them with a solution.
Following the international decarbonization boom, in addition to many countries in Europe, America and East Asia committed to renewable power generation and took the lead in the world, several countries in Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East are also increasingly demanding. One of them is the Lebanese Republic, a country on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean, which is equally interested in solar energy plus energy storage.
Recently, Lebanon planned to bid for renewable power projects, including three 100 MW solar + energy storage projects, which apparently attracted many investors because Lebanon has received 75 letters of intent.
Since Lebanon is also a "novice" in the solar + energy storage project, and the relevant parts of the Government are inexperienced in this regard, the bidding process is now managed by the Ministry of Power and Water Resources of Lebanon, which is not suitable for the Lebanese authorities to review the expressions of intentions of the parties before publishing the project proposals. Therefore, Lebanese institutions have been soliciting ideas on the best practices of the proposals. See. The process has been slow, and now the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has come up with a solution.
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) announced that it "intends to hire a staff officer to support the successful implementation of renewable power auctions by the Lebanese authorities". The selected staff company will provide technical, financial and legal assistance for the bidding and onshore wind power drills of Solar+Storage Power Station. The staff member will compete fiercely with numerous competitors in the same industry and is expected to sign a 30-month contract in June. Funds for consulting operations of staff companies will be paid by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) donation fund at an estimated cost of 1.75 million euros (including VAT).
In addition to Lebanon in the Middle East, Zambia, a landlocked country in southeastern Africa, is now engaged in renewable power business. Recently, a French power company installed the country's first micro-grid for photovoltaic households. It is understood that the micro-grid was built in a village, which had no electricity before, and now lives about 1,500 people. The micro-grid will provide electricity for 378 families, schools and a local medical center in the village. The company believes that this can significantly improve power supply in Africa.
Renewable power generation will become an important way for more and more regions and countries to alleviate the power confrontation, and the business opportunities involved are the same. It can be imagined that if we seize this opportunity, many new power enterprises will gain more profits in this market.
