The world's largest floating photovoltaic power station is connected to the grid in Anhui, China

China's state-owned developer China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group Co., Ltd. cooperated with French floating photovoltaic professional company Ciel & Terre to build a 70MW floating photovoltaic project in a former coal mine in Anhui Province, which is the largest such project in the world.
The project is spread over 13 separate islands covering an area of 140 hectares and completed at the end of 2018. This month, the project will be connected, tested and commissioned at the project site of the Lianghuai Mining Subsidence Area in Baqiao District, Suzhou City.
The project EPC service is provided by China Energy Saving Solar Energy Co., Ltd. and China Energy Construction Group Shanxi Electric Power Design Institute. In addition, a new 18-kilometer 110V overhead line was built for power grid connection. It is estimated that the power generation capacity of the power station in the first year can be as high as 77,693 MWh, which is equivalent to the electricity consumption of nearly 21,000 households.
It is said that this complete power station project in Anhui Province is now the world's largest floating photovoltaic power station built in the same reservoir. However, a 150MW floating photovoltaic project built by China Three Gorges New Energy Co., Ltd. has been partially connected to the grid. After all the operations, this project is likely to become the world's largest power station.

Equipment
China Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Group uses Ciel & Terre's Hydrelio pontoon construction system, which is produced locally and can minimize emissions, optimize logistics costs and provide local employment opportunities.
A spokesperson for C&T confirmed to PV Tech that the project used a single crystal component from the Chinese manufacturer Longji Leye. In order to prevent disturbing adjacent farm activities, the centralized inverter is placed on a support platform along the shoreline of the quarry. The electrical equipment is supported by concrete poles and the 1500 spiral anchors used in the project are embedded at depths of 8-15 meters to match the water body.
Ciel & Terre supplied a floating structure solution for the 32MW floating photovoltaic power plant integrated in Anhui Province. The company also recently supplied a 9.8MW roof and floating photovoltaic project in Cambodia.
